The Burlesque TOP 50 2015 results continue!  Where there is a tie, the policy is to allow joint holders of a single spot in order to celebrate as many people as possible. TOP 10 to come!

Who: Miss Exotic World, Reigning Queen of Burlesque 2013. Finnish fireball now living in Las Vegas, where she headlines PIN UP at Stratosphere.

In 2015: Feature performer in the Viva Las Vegas Burlesque Showcase, Ohh LaLa Cherie! in Zurich, and headliner at the Las Vegas Burlesque Festival, Kabaree Nostalgica in Finland, TRAPEZE in LA and The Queens Soiree Burlesque Show in Austin.  She also performed in the Icons and All Stars showcase at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend. She was featured in Sinical Magazine, Red Hot Las Vegas Magazine and Inked Magazine, and now co-produces Mondo Sleaze in Vegas after moving there in August.

Who: His Bubbles Pop when his trousers drop! One third of the award-winning Stage Door Johnnies, creative genius and all round fabulous guy.

In 2015:  Headliner at the New Zealand Burlesque Festival, Minneapolis Burlesque Festival, Ohio Burlesque Festival and New York Boylesque Festival. Performed in the Movers, Shakers and Innovators showcase at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend, where he also produced Bazuka Joe presents: Let’s Have a Kiki.

 

19. Trixie Little

Who: The Reigning Queen of Burlesque – Miss Exotic World 2015!  Famed for her innovative solo acts and collaboration with The Evil Hate Monkey.

In 2015: Trixie was crowned Miss Exotic World, Reigning Queen of Burlesque 2015 thanks to this a-peel-ing performance!  Her documentary Us Naked: Trixie & Monkey won Best Documentary at the Coney Island Film Festival, and she performed original, full length shows with The Evil Hate Monkey at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Trixie has an Indiegogo campaign running to support her new one-woman stage show – so show your Queen some love!

Who: Italian mistress of dark glamour and intrigue!

In 2015: Performances in Treviso, Rome, Verona, London, Berlin, Hamburg, New Orleans and LA. Judged and performed at the Milan Extraordinaire Festival, performed at Fringe World arts festival in Perth, and in Burlesque Bingo at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend.

 

17. Amber Ray

Who: Veteran NYC burlesquer and creator of dazzling hair ornaments.

In 2015: Amber was the cover and feature spread in the Bachelor Pad Magazine Fall Issue, and featured in the More On Less: The history of Burlesque in America from Lydia Thompson to Amber Ray exhibition at the Charles Allis Art Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Amber also embarked on a European tour of Rome, Milan, Verona, Paris, Brussels, Hamburg and Helsinki, where she headlined the Helsinki Burlesque Festival.

 

16. Dita Von Teese

Who: Like, duh. Come out from under your rock already.

In 2015:  Dita released her long awaited beauty book Your Beauty Mark: The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour and went on a US book signing tour. She launched a holiday lingerie collection in Bloomingdales with a pop up store and launched an exclusive line of loungewear with a popup in Selfridges. Her costumes were displayed at the Vintage Fashion Expo and she appeared on the cover of Prestige magazine (Hong Kong) and Harpers Bazaar (Mexico). Dita also teamed up with Catherine D’Lish to deliver workshops at Canyon Ranch.

Who: The Ass that goes POW! The World’s Most Naked Woman!  Heart-f*cking genius.

In 2015: Michelle was listed in Thrillist Coolest Jobs in Chicago, celebrated Naked Girls Reading 6th year anniversary, hosted another successful Stripper’s Holiday and went on a two week Italian tour, performing and teaching in Milan, Rome, Treviso, Ferarra, Modena and Verona. She is also the new entertainment director for The Drifter, and Studio L’amour opened in a new space. Watch her perform La Panthere at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend 2015.

 

 

14. Lola Frost

Who: Smouldering Canadian seductress and inspirational wordsmith.

In 2015: Highlights included a month long European tour with stops in Hamburg, Paris, Berlin, and a headlining spot at the Stockholm Burlesque Festival. She also headlined the Windy City Burlesque Festival and the 10th Annual Vancouver International Burlesque Festival.  Lola competed once again for the Miss Exotic World title at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend and performed at the Vancouver Fetish Weekend.

Who: Best Boylesque at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend 2013. “He’s the rough and tumble Johnny… and like your morning cup of coffee, he’s strong, black, and keeps you going all day long!”

In 2015: Ray headlined the Hollywood Burlesque Festival and performed his new ‘Cube’ act at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend, as well as helping Roxi D’Lite out with her performance. His production Vertical Side Show  featured in Chicagoist’s Best Chicago Burlesque rundown.

 

12. Jo Weldon

Who: Contemporary pioneer, headmistress of the New York School of Burlesque, and author of The Burlesque Handbook.

In 2015: Jo reached 10,000 Twitter followers in 2015 and was interviewed on The History of Leopard Print for Mental_Floss in advance of her upcoming book on the same subject. She continued to promote New York burlesque and best burlesque practice on her School of Burlesque Tumblr, and was part of a “wild striptease protest” outside an Upper West Side Barnes & Noble. Jo was also a headliner at the Ottawa Burlesque Festival and the New York Burlesque Festival.

Who: Texan temptress and “High Voltage Vixen” who has firmly established herself as an articulate source of inspiration and influence.

In 2015: Coco performed a tribute to burlesque legend Wild Cherry with Indigo Blue at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend, where she also competed in the Miss Exotic World category. She was a feature performer at the Windy City Burlesque Festival, the Tiki Oasis Saturday Burlesque Show, and the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender. Coco also received a Cabaret Award nomination at the Perth Fringe Festival and continued as Texas Burlesque Festival co-producer.
