Dixie Evans Week: Los Angeles, San Francisco and Berlin.

Dixie Evans Week: Los Angeles, San Francisco and Berlin.

A fantastic amount of money has been raised from the shows and events which have already taken place across the world for Dixie Evans Week, and there are still more events to come.  Here are some reports from the shows in L.A., San Francisco and Berlin.

San Francisco

“San Francisco’s event United We Shimmy for Dixie Evans featured the top talent from the Bay Area all in honour of Dixie Evans! Presented by Baby Doe of Tease-O-Rama and Bunny Pistol from Barbary Coast Burlesque. The highlight of the night was legends Isis Starr and Holiday O’ Hara sharing stories of travelling the world dancing burlesque. There were performances by La Chica Boom, Bunny Pistol, The Devil-Ettes, Isis Starr, Kingfish, Alotta Boutté, Kellita, Dottie Lux, Mynx D’Meanor, Lady Satan, Sid Scenic, Bohemian Brethren, Lola Martinet, Mercy Beaucoup, Eva D’Luscious, Kiki Bordeaux, The Tartlettes, and live music by the Los Shimmy Shakers!”

“The Berlin burlesque community truly came together in a wonderful show of generosity to raise funds for Dixie Evans Week. We held a raffle at Pinky’s Peepshow: ‘Safari on Heels – A Tribute to Dixie Evans’. Trixie Trainwreck and The Bassy Club hosted a fantastic show with performances by Amber Ray, Xarah Von Vielenregen, Honey Lulu, and Lilly Tiger, hosted by Scotty The Blue Bunny.

Performers and supporters from Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Amsterdam and Dresden donated tons of amazing prizes! We had fascinators, pasties, t-shirts, gift certificates for clothes, photo shoots, workshops, show tickets, and even a naughty little surprise – Pocket Porn!  The audience was very generous, purchasing 160 raffle tickets, and to top it all off… Lada Redstar auctioned herself! Offering a private dance or workshop, the lucky and über generous Else Edestahl won the auction! Overall we raised €400 ($530)!

We were thrilled to be able to contribute to this important fundraising effort, and to honour and celebrate our burlesque heroine, Dixie Evans.”

“Kitten de Ville and Yadi Presents produced The All Stars of Tease, A Burlesque Extravaganza!, Los Angeles’s only Dixie Evans event, at the beautiful Yost theatre in Santa Ana. The sold out show brought in fans from far and wide who paid their last respects to Dixie and helped raise the total of $2,555.00. Hostess Lili Von Schtupp kicked off the night with a tear-filled speech honouring Dixie Evans, but the mood quickly turned upbeat when Miss Exotic World 2002 Kitten de Ville took to the stage and performed her Casting Couch tribute, which Dixie had personally taught to her.

The evening featured an alumni of L.A.’s elite, and an award winning cast which included: Kristina Nekyia (2010 BHoF Queen of Burlesque ‘First Runner Up’), burlesque legend Shannon Doah, multi award winner Coco Lectric, Ming Dynatease, Princess Farhana, The Poubelle Twins, and Diamondback Annie (just to name a few). Co-host/singer Bobbi DeCarlo and the Starlites wrapped up the evening by singing I’ll be Seeing You for the curtain call. The poignant song was a perfect farewell to Dixie Evans and the legacy that she has left behind.”
