Indigo Blue

“Indigo is a unique performer with incredible sass and precision. She’s an inspiring entrepreneur and a pioneer in bringing burlesque to new audiences. She is a teacher who entertains while she makes complicated concepts and movement come easily to her students. She rocks my world in every way!”

Jo Weldon

Indigo Blue – welcome to the Top 10!

There are some very special individuals who have worked tirelessly for the benefit of the burlesque community and their students for years, and this lady right here is one of them.

We first came across Indigo at Tease-o-Rama some years ago, where we experienced her gift for teaching and entertaining for ourselves. She is the headmistress of The Academy of Burlesque in Seattle, and the curator of BurlyCon – a fantastic annual weekend of workshops, panels, social events and classes. There are no shows at BurlyCon – all the time is devoted to education, feedback, discourse and socialising. Indigo deserves Top 10 recognition for BurlyCon alone, in our opinion. Nothing quite like it has ever been made available before, and received such an incredible response. She is also a Co-Director of Education at The Burlesque Hall of Fame, alongside Jo Weldon, who works with Indigo as a co-curator at BurlyCon.

Highlights of 2010 include Indigo’s performance at BHoF – a tribute to the late Ricci Cortez; appearances at the Toronto Burlesque Festival, New York Burlesque Festival, and the New Orleans Burlesque Festival – where she thrilled the audience with her Chartreuse routine in a gorgeous blue and green ensemble. She also travelled to Europe to perform and teach at The Stockholm Burlesque Festival, and in Helsinki.

  • I love the Ricci Cortez tribute. I couldn’t agree more that she should be on the list simply for her support of the community. She’s also an amazing performer! Love it!
